September 8-11:

We are excited that our large field will be available for us to play on during our physed times and recess breaks this week. I am grateful for the patience and positivity the class has shown as we have waited for the field to open up.

Last week we completed a learning style inventory and talked about how we could use this knowledge of our preferred learning style to advocate for our learning. It might be fun to talk with your child about their preferred learning style.

Things to note:
- Friday is a full day
- Our weekly math homework will be sent home on Tuesday and is due the following Monday.

Our learning:
Math - we will continue to learn about patterns and relationships and will try to identify and relate the patterns in our tables of values using specific operation words like, multiply or divide.

Writing - we will continue to use our writing toolbox to help support writing sentences with prepositional openers as well as "ly" word openers.

Reading - we will begin our novel study with the book, "Bridge to Terabithia."

Social - we will begin exploring our social textbook by furthering our understanding on the layout of text books and how to find information within the book.

Science - we will continue to work through our trees and forests unit.

August 31-September 3:

Welcome to grade 6! I am excited to working with your child and learning alongside them. We will be doing many exciting lessons and inquiry projects that will engage all students in their learning.

Each Monday I will be sending an email sharing information about our learning goals for the week along with any other pieces of information about the week. I hope this form of communication will support your child's success this school year.

I also have a class blog where I will post our weekly emails along with photos of our learning. This is also a great place to find resources about our areas of learning. You can sign up to receive notices of new posts by adding your email address on the top right hand corner where it says, "Follow by email."
