Our Learning - April 19 - 23:

Items to note:

- Friday is a half day.

- a new activity for us at recess times is playing Spike ball. We are quite excited about this. If you happen to have a set at your house it might be fun to take it out and play with your child. 

- teachers have been asked to remind families to use the AHS Daily Screener each morning and keep your child home if they are displaying any symptoms, even mildly.

Our learning:

Social - we have started our learning on the provincial government and this week will be learning about services provided and the corresponding budget by the provincial government.  

Science - after conducting several experiments to investigate properties of air, this week we will be designing our own experiments to demonstrate one of the properties of air. It may be helpful for your child if you can listen to and discuss with them their experiment ideas. Our properties of air that we have learned are: 

-air takes up space

-air has weight

-air exerts pressure

-air is fluid

Math - we will be working on classifying triangles according to their sides and angles. 

Writing - we will be working on writing lead sentences for our newspaper writing unit as well as crafting the body of a news article. 

Thought book - this week we will be viewing different science experiments and discussing what were the controlled and manipulated variables. This activity is linked with our science learning and assignment this week of designing our own experiment.
