Our Learning for February 22-26:

Items to note:

-We will be going skating on Friday afternoon. 

-On Wednesday, students are encouraged to wear pink.

Our learning:

Science - we will be starting our final project as we wrap up our learning on Sky Science. Students will step into the role of being a real estate agent selling vacation homes on a different planet other than earth. They will become an expert on a planet of their choice and will need to research and creatively market their planet based on features and comparisons to earth. 

Social - we will be starting our new learning on local government with the aim of understanding the role of our local government including what services are provided by this level of government, how we can advocate for our needs within our local government and how by laws are passed. We will start this week by learning about Canada's three levels of government and will work towards understanding the differences in services provided by each level. 

Writing - we will be working through a process of evaluating and analyzing student exemplars of narrative writing. We will be using Alberta Education's rubrics as well as sample student work. We will be scoring the writing based on the same criteria we use in class - content, organization, vocabulary, sentence structure and conventions. We will then take this knowledge with us as we work on our next narrative writing piece. 

Math - we will continue to work on our new unit of study on perimeter, area and volume. 

Thought book - we will be working through an activity related to our three levels of government in Canada with a focus on the services provided by each.
