Our Learning January 18-22:

Items to note:

- We will be having our fractions math test on Wednesday. 

Our Learning:

Science - we will be doing two activities to reinforce our understanding of the relationship between shadows and the sun's position in the sky as well as an activity related to the reasons we have seasons. We will then be learning about the phases of the moon. 

Social - we will be researching the different nations that are a part of the Iroquois Confederacy with the overarching goal of understanding to what extent did the decision making process within the Iroquois Confederacy reflect democratic ideals of equity and fairness. 

Math - we will be wrapping up our learning on relating mixed numbers and improper fractions with our chapter test planned for Wednesday. Our next unit of learning will be on ratios and percents. 

Writing - we will be continuing to turn our wordless book into a word book and this week focus on the editing and revision process.  We will be highlighting the different sentence types we used to support our learning on sentence structure as well as highlighting the different figures of speech we used and showing versus telling sentences to support our vocabulary development. 

Thought book - we will be analyzing the pros and cons of the decision making model of consensus versus majority rule to support our social learning.
