November 12-15

Reminders:
This week it is a half day Friday.

A permission form will be going home this week in regards to our
upcoming curling dates. (Nov.18,20,25 and 27). One volunteer will be
needed to join our class as we walk to the arena and back to school.
The times will be announced shortly once they are confirmed. 

Students will be bringing home their math test today. Please take a look at
the test with your child and have them return it to school to be stored in their
portfolio binder. 

Math - we have started a new chapter on multiples and factors. Vocabulary for
this chapter includes; multiples, factors, prime number and composite number. 

Science - this week we will be learning about the phases of the moon.
Vocabulary we will be learning includes; moon phases, waning moon,
waxing moon, revolution, rotation, new moon and full moon.

Social - we will be starting a new chapter on democracy in Ancient Athens. 

Writing - we will be returning to our expository (informational) writing skills and
working on an assignment titled, “What If You Had Animal Teeth?” Students
will be selecting an animal and finding out the unique characteristics of that
animal’s teeth and what it would be like to have these teeth as a human.
This assignment requires researching, assessing information, note taking and
summarizing. We look forward to learning about animal teeth!
