 Our Learning:

January 31-February 4:

Items to note:
-We will be going skating Friday afternoon at the Fenlands outdoor arena. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately to be outside all afternoon. Helmets are required. If your child does not have a pair of skates or a helmet please let me know immediately so that I can reserve a pair for them. Thank you. 
- Our next Nature Explorers field trip is on Thursday afternoon. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately to be outside all afternoon. We will be going to the Administrative Grounds to learn about finding our way when we are lost - through the movement of the sun and stars, nature signals, and the magnetosphere (compass use)  Students will complete an orienteering scavenger hunt challenge in small groups.
- We are in need of one more parent volunteer for our skating on February 18. If you are able to volunteer please let me know. Thank you. 

Our learning:
Math - we will be continuing our learning on the order of operations with a focus on multiplying and decimal numbers by whole numbers. 

Science - we will be learning about technologies used to gather information about planets and other objects in the night sky. 

Social - we will be starting our final project on the Iroquois Confederacy with the guiding question of to what extent did the decision making process within the Iroquois Confederacy reflect the democratic ideals of equity and fairness. 

Literacy - we will be working through the revising and editing process of our recent narrative writing piece and then we will be learning about finding irrelevant information within stories. 

Thoughtbook - we will be working on designing our own equations using the acronym PEDMAS with our order of operations learning in math and then having our classmates try to solve the equation. 

Weekly Math homework - we will be working through multiplication questions and a problem solving sheet using multiplication.
