Our Learning January 24- January 28:
Items to note:
-In preparation for an upcoming art project please have your child bring to school an old toothbrush and if you have an old aluminum pie pan. We will be using these to make a galaxy painting using acrylic paints. Thank you.
- Friday is a full day
-Report Cards will be available to view in Parent Portal on Friday
-Please return your child´s skating permission form and please let me know if your child will need to rent skates (free of charge) from the rental facility at the Fenlands arena.
Our learning:
Math - we will be starting our new learning on operations with a focus on multiplying decimals, dividing decimals and applying order of operations. This week's focus will be on evaluating expressions that have multiple operations by completing the operations in the appropriate order; parentheses, then multiplying and dividing, then adding and subtracting.
Science - we will be learning about the phases of the moon. If you are interested in following the phases of the moon with your child here is a site to reference, Moon Phases 2002 Lunar Calendar for Banff.
Social - we will be presenting our Iroquois Confederacy group project and then continuing with our learning on how the Iroquois Confederacy was structured.
Writing - we will be starting a new narrative story based on a picture prompt that has previously been used for the grade 6 Provincial Achievement Exams.
Thoughtbook - we will be working through an order of operations activity this week.
Weekly homework - we will be working on a division assignment this week.
