Our Learning for December 7-11:

Items to note:

- The deadline for letting the school know if you need a chrome book for the online learning period of Jan.4-8 is the Dec.10th. Please fill in the form sent home or take a photo of the form and return it to me prior to the 10th. Thank you. 

-On Thursday, Ms.Emro, our music teacher, will be recording our class performance for the online Christmas concert. She has asked that students "dress their best for the holidays" - yes reindeer/Santa hats, etc. are allowed).  Please also ensure that you have returned your child's permission form to take part in this event. 

Our Learning:

Science - students will be working on their crime scene this week. We are excited to begin using our learning to develop an imaginary crime scene focusing on the three types of evidence we have learned along with our observation and inferencing skills.

Writing -students will be starting to make their own wordless books this week. Students will first use our story organizer to plan and develop their story and then begin to work on the illustrations that support vocabulary, sentence structure and voice.  In the new year, we will turn our wordless book into our first narrative story.  

Health - we are taking a momentary break from our social studies learning to work on a health assignment. Students will be working towards the outcome of identifying and maintaining healthy choices and promoting safety for self and others. Students will be  constructing a 'healthy retreat' with a focus on nutritional food and a variety of healthy activities. 

Math - we will be focusing on multiplying and dividing decimals this week.

Thought Book - last week students were introduced to the order of operations and we worked through a variety of visuals for solving questions based on ordering the operations correctly. This week students will have the opportunity to build their own visuals for ordering of operations for us to try to solve as a class. They will also be writing equations to match word problems and vice versa, writing a word problem to match an equation.
