Welcome to grade 6!

I am so excited to work and learn with you this year. 

This week we will work through some activities to get to

 know each other. We will build a slide show about ourselves 

and work through a learning style inventory to explore our 

unique learning methods. 

Each Monday, I will try to post what our learning goals for 

the week are. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have 

any questions about our learning. 

Writing - this week in writing we will begin using our writing 

toolboxes and explore note taking and expository writing

 with preposition openers.

Reading - this week in reading we will be starting the reading 

comprehension strategy of finding main idea. We may also 

begin our novel study - Bridge to Terabithia

Math - this week in math we will begin learning about patterns 

and relationships focusing on using a table of values.

Science - in science this week we will be starting our first unit 

on Trees and Forests. First we will be focusing our learning on 

understanding the values of trees and forests. 

Social - in social this week we will begin learning about the four 

pillars of democracy and our rights and responsibilities as Canadian

 citizens.
